Waste to Value Mission

There are more and more people living on this one earth. And we all know it is increasing the amount of waste more and more. And the consequences of waste piling up on our earth are worse than the waste itself. The space on earth is decreasing with all this waste piling up everywhere. Waste brings disease with it, all kinds of emissions and gases come out from waste. Dirty liquid known as leachate pours out from huge piles of waste ruining the ground beneath them. Insects harmful to us breed within waste. The list of consequences is pretty long. The most alarming thing is that by 2050 there will be a 70% increase in the amount of waste laying on this very earth where we live. And even now you can’t imagine how much waste is being created every single year.

We are doing something about it. There are numerous solutions out there to make these consequences into positives. There are numerous ways to tackle these issues. The thing about the production of waste is that. We all are contributing to its creation but are we all doing enough to stop it? The simple answer is we are not. And I think this is where we as residents of this beautiful earth should step in. Yes, perhaps you who is reading these words right now already know about this but what about your next-door neighbors? Your friends? What about your parents? Or your children? To make a difference about this matter, it is much simpler than we think. It is quite effortless actually.

Step 1

Become aware of this matter. If I can throw waste that means I can pick it up too. Start writing this sentence in your journal, diary or anywhere you like. This will make you more aware and your eyes will be able to “see” all the waste around you.

Step 2

Once that reminder is fully ingrained in your mind. Then move onto the action part of the reminder. Pick up the “waste” around you. Do not push yourself, just one piece of garbage is enough each day or when you can. It could be while you are on a walk or standing somewhere whether it is inside or outside. You will notice it in places you never thought of before. The beautiful thing about this is that you are doing something that is so meaningful, it is an act of kindness and care. This act will increase beauty within you, and you can do it all for yourself. Even if it does not matter to your people, it is something that will make you feel good. And that is what matters the most.

Step 3

Tell your closed ones, the people who understand you to do the same. Or at least create the habit of picking up waste. It's quick, it's simple. You see trash, pick it up. Do you see a trash can? Yes, there is one. Throw it in there and keep living your life.

It might seem like something unimportant but if this minute action, this minute habit spreads. It will be like a wildfire spreading on our earth and burning all the waste with it. Now you might be wondering how this action will lead to less waste. We are just shoving it into trash cans, that doesn’t make the waste any less though. The thing is that if we want to do something about waste. If we want to decrease it through burning, or to reuse or recycle the waste. The first big step in doing so, is to separate the waste into different groups because there are many types of waste which are dealt with in different ways. In order to separate the waste, we need to first have the waste in containers so we can transport them to places where they can be separated. And these containers are trash cans.

We are the “transporters” of waste into trash cans. We are the missionaries of this mission to decrease the waste. We are the practical futurists. Let’s start this mission today! Start implementing these steps from today. Start writing the awareness sentences or picking and trash and send us your pictures.
