Unit 1. The Seeds of Change
Have you ever wondered how essential trees are to nature, the world and carbon fixing? This unit follows the tree cycle yet focuses on how each stage is of great importance.
1.1. Get Growing
Learn more about soil, seeds and soil. Get seeds from your food and grow your own plants! Keeping them in different conditions and environments will give different results - observe and write your own gardening journal!
1.2. Noticing Nature
Go on a longer nature walk and pay attention to all the elements around you. Can you find a bird nest? A mushroom? Can you see some other animal signs? Play bingo and learn about many ways in which nature uses trees!
1.3. For the Birds
How important are birds in wildlife, what are their different roles and food sources? Build bird feeders, hang them outside, observe the birds and note which species come the most frequently and what kind of food is their favorite.
1.4. Securing the Soil
Think about deforestation - what are its effects? Conduct an experiment showing that even the roots of the trees have an important role not only for the plants themselves, but also for the life around. How can we make a difference?
